El 19 de febrero de 2009, la Asociación Europea de Terminología organizó en la Universidad de la Sorbona de París un seminario de un día dedicado a la profesión de terminólogo frente a las exigencias del mercado. El objetivo del seminario era establecer unas primeras bases para realizar un inventario a nivel europeo de las responsabilidades relacionadas con la profesión y de las competencias y aptitudes requeridas.
