Le 19 février 2009, l'Association Européenne de Terminologie a organisé à l'Université de la Sorbonne à Paris, un séminaire d'un jour ayant pour thème
"La profession de terminologue face aux exigences du marché".
L'objectif de se séminaire était de permettre de dresser un inventaire au niveau européen des responsabilités liées à la profession ainsi que des compétences et aptitudes requises.
