Precolumbian textiles publications CTR 2020. Review by Susanne Lervad

28.09.2020

Lena Bjerregaard published a catalogue of preColumbian textiles in the Roemer- and Pelizaeus-Museum in Hildesheim at Zeabooks https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/zeabook/ (free download), ISBN 978-1-60962-166-7 , 2020. She is a visiting scholar at The Centre for Textile Research where I am the terminologist, and I have followed Lena Bjerregaard’samazing work and cataloguing of preColumbian textiles for years now. She has been employed for many years as a conservator at the Ethographic Museum of Berlin and published a catalogue of this very important collection in 2017 [http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/zeabook and the proceedings from preColumbian Textiles Conferences (in Copenhagen at CTR in 2016 and in Brussels in 2018) . All the publications are available online at Zea books, Lincoln Nebraska and downloaded especially by a high number from the Southamerican people for whom the items have been less accessible for many years in museum collections all over the world.
